The last hotel - Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh

The last hotel is the best piece of theatre or opera that I have ever seen. I was given tickets a performance in the Linbury Thearte of the Royal Opera House in 2015 and was completely blown away by the piece, the stagaing and the performance. It's the only performance I've come out of and immediately gone to the box office to buy more tickets, sadly it was the last night of the run.

The Opera concerns an irish woman who has arranged to meet an english couple in a hotel where the couple will assist her in her suicide. It is performed by 4 artists, 4 opera singers and a silent dancer (the hotel porter). It examines the excrutiating juxtaposition of suicide, desire for love and search for purpose against the banal and mundane hotel setting and the english husband's appreciation of the hotel's inpersonal decor and unimpressive buffet. Dommacha Dennehy's score is increadible - minimilist loops with almost constant tension.
